The MSDE Division of Special Education has established partnerships to support the mission of access, equity, and progress for students with disabilities across a continuum of services and programs, focusing on elevating performance and narrowing the existing achievement gap. The National Center on Educational Outcomes (NCEO) and the Time, Instructional Effectiveness, Engagement, and State and District Support for Inclusive Practices Center (TIES Center) are two national partners that provide a wealth of resources and a national lens to support Maryland’s work focused on the specific needs of students with significant cognitive disabilities.  Together, NCEO and the TIES Center are developing a series of videos for parents and caregivers on various aspects of supporting their children with intensive needs.

We are pleased to share the first four videos. These videos help families learn ways to support their children while they learn at home and have conversations with their children’s teachers to link support between home and school. Educators and related service providers will also find these short videos helpful as they work with families.

Please visit this site periodically, as additional videos will be added over the next several months. Future videos will cover support for learning reading, writing, and math at home and progress monitoring.

Check out the first four videos in the series.
